EFeMS Scholarship


 

Description

The EFeMS scholarship provides funding for African women by financially assisting in their studies towards a STEM degree. The scholarship is designed to encourage women in Africa to pursue STEM degrees either at the graduate or undergraduate level and will allow recipients to advance in their STEM education without carrying the financial burden.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must:

    • Identify as a female

    • Be enrolled in a STEM degree (undergraduate or graduate level) for the following school year

    • Attend an African-accredited university

    • Have attended the FeMS Bootcamp

    • Have not received the EFeMS scholarship previously

    • Demonstrate community involvement and commitment to a STEM career

Jochebed Afua Basil

Jochebed Afua Basil is finishing her first year at Ashesi University where she is interested in Computer Science. Although she is yet to choose her major, she is considering Data Science and Software Engineering. Jochebed’s main aim is to work in the Health Informatics field and build innovative solutions to bridge the gap between Health and Technology in Africa. Jochebed is not all about education. She is also passionate about handicrafts: like embroidery art and sewing.

Dorcas Attuabea Addo

Dorcas Attuabea Addo is currently a Ph.D. student at the Department of Mathematics, KNUST, and recently became an assistant lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba. She also has a YouTube channel called “The Maths Classroom”,“ which provides mathematics tutorials from basic to tertiary.

Dorcas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from KNUST, and an MSc in Mathematical Science from AIMS-Ghana. Her research interest is in Quantum Computing: Variational Quantum Algorithm.

Dorcas is passionate about quality education; the avenue for diverse, inclusive, and equitable quality education. She is a STEM advocate and passionate about promoting STEM education among females.
