Join us as we discuss the experiences of four female scientists in their journey from Africa to North America. Learn how they navigated through different obstacles and built their career in a new country.
This program will be streamed live on YouTube and the recorded video will be available afterward. Live viewers will have the opportunity to ask the panel questions via the YouTube chat.
EFeMS-WISC Ambassador Program 2022
Empowering Female Minds in STEM (EFeMS) is pairing up with Women in Supramolecular Chemistry (WISC) to bring to you our first-ever Ambassador Program supported by the Royal Society for Chemistry and the University of Kent.
The EFeMS-WISC Ambassador Program is a great opportunity for an African woman who is either in a chemistry or biochemistry science program at the undergraduate or graduate level or who is interested in science communication. Two ambassadors will be fully funded to visit the UK for 10 days in order to spend time in chemistry research labs led by women PIs, and create content for science communication and public engagement channels.
Eligibility Requirements: Potential ambassadors must be enrolled in an African-accredited university, must display academic excellence, and must have the willingness to participate in research activities.
Length of Program: The trip to the UK will be 10 days (fully funded). The internship, invitation to join a WISC advisory board, and support will last at least one calendar year.
Terms of Employment: The trip to the UK will be fully funded (including flights, accommodation and subsistence). Should travel not be allowed, training will be provided remotely and equipment will be provided in lieu of travel, however the preferred option will be for the ambassadors to visit the UK. Travel will not be before Spring 2022 at the earliest.
